Jai Kudo is delighted to announce the launch of the eagerly anticipated, new Podium collection this September, 2011. This first Podium collection is in every way a clear reflection of our fascination with the beauty and grace of the vintage look. With incredible attention to detail, style notes from the past reverberate throughout to convey an air of unmistakable elegance, artistry and flair.
Never is this more apparent than in the Alice and Marlowe models which integrate exquisite antique stencilling in metal with fashionably chic, vintage-style hinges. Bartholomew and Sebastian feature the classic Windsor ring and soft square eye shape, so reminiscent of the 1920’s and strikingly beautiful in their simplicity. For the Tiffany model, the ever popular 1950’s cat’s eye shape is reworked in heavy acetate to create an exceptionally stylish standout look. In contrast, the Prescott frame with its classic keyhole bridge and tidy, compact design epitomizes understated sophistication and finely-tuned creative expression.
The Podium sunglass collection is set to launch in October, 2011 and will introduce a breathtaking range of vintage inspired designs. The collection pinpoints specific styles from the 1950’s through to the 1990’s to represent the very best of each era.
Channelling Audrey Hepburn’s iconic sense of style, the Penelope frame exudes good-taste, class and refinement. For the Prudence model, bold, heavy acetate is incorporated into the design to perfectly express the glamour and confidence of the 50’s and 60’s. The exceptionally masculine Jasper frame, with its strong, square eye shape, typifies the “Reservoir Dogs” look of the 1990’s, whereas Randall looks back to the 1980’s with an easy to wear, soft “aviator” style. For an alternative take on the 1980’s, Verity features the smaller, rounded eye shape. This simple, extremely wearable, lightweight design also includes a stunning colour fade effect in red, purple or beige. Felicity, inspired by the 1970’s, combines an oversized eye shape with a strong angled brow to create a high impact look.
For both the eyewear and sunglasses, a classic colour palette has been chosen, very much in keeping with the vintage theme and in line with current eyewear trends. Warm colours predominate; tortoiseshell, caramel, rust, wood, walnut, nutmeg and camel, alongside the customary black and soft neutrals such as grey, mushroom, beige, linen and stone. The collection is enlivened by the judicious use of stronger, brighter shades; purple, red, pink and blue, to add a contemporary twist and further element of interest.
